Lessons on Freedom.

First she said, you must understand how close death is to life. To your life at all times.
How fleeting these moments of life truly are. Time is the only boundary that matters. All freedom happens within the bounds of life, and life has only one true scarcity: time. To understand this is to be free.

Then, she continued, there are matters of mind. Treat your mind and all its stories like the court jester. Every absurdity, fallacy, and story, for which there will be many, is a lie derived from moments of truth. The only task of the mind in this context is to seek out the specks of truth from the torrent of dreams. In this way, the mind is an endless stream raining down upon your life, and your whole life of possible truth will fit neatly into a single cup. Close your mouth to the stream and drink only from the cup.

Every time you seek direction, look to nature. The earth and your body are the compass. They always tell the truth of where you are and which direction you should go next. Be still, listen. To become untethered from nature is to lose your capacity for satiation. To be overcome by need, to be impatient, is to have lost your way.

Anything other than authenticity is a lie. In the world outside of you, inauthenticity is a signal. In your inner world, inauthenticity is a cage. Identity, society, and hope are the dreams that imprison your authenticity. Truth is what sets it free. To focus directly on achieving it is to lose it. To try is to lose it. Dreams, hopes, and needs have an unfathomable cost. Every time the mind fixates on a dream, a hope, or a need, of which all these things are abundant and the same, you sacrifice a chance for authenticity. Choose wisely. The audacity we have to think we can possibly trade eternity for a moment and somehow come out unscathed is perhaps the greatest of all the tricks the mind plays. To surrender to truth, nature, and time is the path to freedom. Authenticity lives here.

Lastly, she said, true connection is an act of creativity. Connection is the relationship you form with all things. This has a quality, one that has no words yet holds all clarity. Creativity of this kind is a reflection of how willing you are to live by the truth, in nature, on the edge of time. The depth of your creativity is a reflection of your willingness to put your feet on the earth, in truth, on the edge of life and death. Creativity is the whole universe flowing through your lived experience, flowing through your connection to everything. Creativity is breath. The more you let go, the more it flows. Creation is life. Creativity is the personification of freedom.

True freedom is when your body, your mind, and your life commune. Freedom is the scarcity of time, the truth of the mind, the rhythm of nature, the emergence of authenticity, and the way it offers up a connection to everything, inviting you to be a conduit of its many gifts.
